General Lithium Polymer Safety Guidelines

  1. Never use a NiCd or NiMH charger to charge a LiPo battery. Use only a charger specifically designed for Lithium Polymer batteries.
  2. Inspect the battery before every charge and use. Do not charge or use a battery that shows signs of swelling, punctures, deformation, damaged wiring, or other physical damage.
  3. Always charge LiPo batteries in a fire-resistant location or container, away from combustible materials. Do not charge batteries on wood, carpet, fabric, furniture, or other flammable surfaces.
  4. Never charge a battery unattended. Remain nearby and observe the battery throughout the charging process.
  5. If a battery begins to swell, balloon, smoke, become excessively hot, or behave abnormally:
  6. Never allow the positive and negative battery leads to touch. A short circuit can cause extreme heat, fire, battery damage, or injury.
  7. After a crash, impact, or overheating event:

When in doubt about the condition of a Lithium Polymer battery, do not charge or use it.
